This sentiment was shared by the more than 65 people who attended the recent “What You Need to Know About Foreclosure and How to Avoid It” seminar at E & A Credit Union. Other comments included: “It was very well done” and “You gave me the information I was looking for!”
Teaming with the Economic Opportunity Committee, Mortgage Center, and the Port Huron Assessor’s Office, E & A Credit Union presented the free informative forum to the community. Sessions included such topics as: The Foreclosure Process; Foreclosure Prevention Counseling; Purchasing a Foreclosed Home; Property Taxes; and Financial Management Education.
E & A Supports St. Clair County 4-H

E & A Credit Union is pleased to support the 2008 St. Clair County 4-H Fair with the purchase of the Grand Champion hogs during the livestock auction.
After the conclusion of the 4-H Fair, the pigs were shipped to C. Roy & Sons Meat Packers in Yale for processing and will were donated to local food banks in St. Clair County. CEO Janice Rose thanked C. Roy & Sons for their generous donation of processing. E & A Credit Union looks forward to supporting the community for many years to come.
E & A Supports Sanilac County 4-H

E & A Credit Union is pleased to support the 2008 Sanilac County 4-H Fair with the purchase of Jonathon Markey’s hogs during the livestock auction. Jonathon is a member of the Argyle Sox 4-H Club.

Georgia Stewart Honored for 28 Years of Service

With her usual smile in place, Georgia Stewart celebrated her retirement from E & A Credit Union after 28 wonderful years. “I think I’ve worked in almost EVERY department,” Georgia said during her party on July 22, 2008, at E & A. “It has been a great experience and I will miss all of the friends I have made over the years.”
CEO Janice Rose congratulated Georgia and introduced a special surprise guest, Ms. Mary Schumann, who trained Georgia when she started with the credit union 28 years ago. In addressing the group, Ms. Schumann noted that Georgia was a fast learner and always very friendly. In addition to the good wishes of all of her friends at E & A, Georgia also received some gifts to commemorate her time at the credit union including a beautiful bracelet, golf package, and a golf-inspired flower arrangement from the Board of Directors.
E & A Credit Union Supports Relay for Life

E & A Credit Union is pleased to announce that more than two dozen of their staff members participated in the Relay for Life on May 31st & June 1st – including setting up a M*A*S*H – themed station! The Relay for Life is an annual event held to benefit the American Cancer Society. In addition to participating in the Relay, E & A Credit Union employees worked tirelessly to raise money for the cause – including holding lunches, Jean Days and many other fundraisers.
E & A Credit Union event captain, Georgia Stewart stated, “Even with the weather working against us, our team was fantastic this year! I want to thank all of our walkers, committee members, and the E & A Credit Union staff for their support – from fundraising at the branches to working in the booth – they were fabulous!”
How Much Do YOUR Kids Know About $$$?

Knowing the facts about money makes for a stronger financial future and E & A Credit Union’s recent Kids and Money seminar allowed dozens of kids and their families the opportunity to learn how to make their money work for them. Sarah Teets from GreenPath Debt Solutions provided valuable information on budgeting, setting financial goals, and how to become a millionaire by retirement. Organized by E & A Credit Union’s Marketing Team, the event was open to the public and offered information, gifts, and activities for everyone in attendance. Because of the overwhelming interest in this type of program, E & A Credit Union’s Vice President of Marketing, Scott Babin, anticipates similar future events. “Our team had a fantastic time putting this event together and the kids who attended were terrific! We are definitely hoping to offer this to adults and youth in the community again.
Girl Scouts Visit E & A

Saturday, May 3rd, was a very special day for E & A Credit Union as they welcomed some local Girl Scouts to the office for a Got Money Seminar! In addition to learning about budgeting, keeping their identity and money safe, good credit versus bad credit, and how to save for the future, the Girl Scouts participated in some fun and educational activities. E & A Credit Union Marketing Manager, Jenny Bulgrien, hosted the event and stated that she had a wonderful time with these bright young women. “It was a great morning,” stated Ms. Bulgrien, “And these girls have so much energy – it was terrific to have them with us. We look forward to having the Girl Scouts visit us again in the future.”
E & A Credit Union Celebrates a Decade of Supporting March of Dimes

E & A Credit Union is pleased to support the March of Dimes for the tenth consecutive year! More than 20 walkers, babies, and dogs from E & A participated in the April 27th “March for Babies” event and raised $1,870 for this fantastic cause. Event coordinators Georgia Stewart and Annette Piontkowski are pleased with the results. Georgia Stewart commented, “It is amazing the support we receive from our staff, our members, and the community for this fantastic event. The March for Babies is such a great cause, and we are hoping to participate for another ten years!.”
The Metro East Chapter of Credit Unions also sponsored a checkpoint for the march and provided treats to all of the walkers. The Metro East Chapter of Credit Unions includes several Blue Water Area Credit Unions such as E & A Credit Union, Blue Water Federal Credit Union, Flagship Community Federal Credit Union, Belle River Community Credit Union, and MPG Community Credit Union.
E & A Staff Gets a Hand from Special Guests
E & A Credit Union members were met with new smiles recently, as E & A staff participated in ‘Bring Your Child to Work Day’ at the credit union. Twenty students of various ages came to E & A with their mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts & uncles to learn more about what those special adults do all day at work. The kids had a terrific time. Each received a special E & A goodie bag, placemat, pizza lunch, and prizes!
CEO Janice Rose, CCE, spoke with the group during their lunch and gave them information on the importance of saving money and explained how E & A Credit Union can help them. “What a great day!” Ms. Rose stated after speaking with the kids, “The ‘Bring Your Child to Work Day’ program is wonderful not only for the kids, but also for our employees. E & A Credit Union has always been a family-oriented organization, and this is one of the ways that we try to incorporate a family atmosphere here. Besides – it’s a lot of fun!”
E & A Credit Union Holds 72nd Annual Meeting

It was a wonderful evening for the members, staff and Board of Directors recently when E & A Credit Union held its 72nd Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Port Huron Office. Board of Directors Chairman Tom Wik recognized E & A’s accomplishments for the past year while President/CEO Janice Rose gave those in attendance a view of future initiatives. One of the highlights of the evening was a video presentation featuring a number of members discussing the positive impact E & A Credit Union has had on their lives.
In discussing the Annual Meeting, CEO Rose stated, “This is one of the evenings that I most look forward to each year. Having the opportunity to meet some of our members and hear their views is incredibly fulfilling and valuable – and it is one of the things that distinguishes us from other financial institutions. At E & A Credit Union, we take time to listen to our members.”
